Success for Disabled Athletes
Huge excitement for us as 12 of our young athletes have achieved qualifying distances and times for two National Championships following their achievements at the Quadrathlon in April and the Regional Championships in May
Matthew Hamill (Leics Vision Support Services) for Wheelchair Distance, Slalom & Target Events; Kara Moseley (Forest Way) for Long Jump; Georgie Bennett (Birch Wood) for Long Jump, Javelin; Heather Dorman (Forest Way) for Long Jump; Nathan Woods (Maplewell Hall) for Javelin; Danny Higgins (Leicester College) for 100m, 200m; Chris McMillan (Rawlins CC) for 400m; Michael Roberts (Forest Way) for 400m; Long Jump; Sam Harding (Maplewell Hall) for 400m, 100m; Lydia Hayden (Leics Vision SS) for 100m; Jodie Popejoy (Leics Vision SS) for 100m; Luke White (Leics Vision SS) 100m; Tom Shorter (Forest Way) for 100m; and Leigh Middleton (Forest Way) for 100m.
All these athletes qualify for the DSE National Disability Junior Athletics Championships in Preston on 9/10th July - they will be representing the East Midlands. Athletes listed above who have a learning disability have also met the standards for the Mencap National Championships in Watford on June 25th.
